Why?

When it comes to content marketing, the sky is the limit. From blog posts to infographics, content marketing serves as a powerful tool.

2. AI and Personalization

Have you ever noticed Amazon telling you when your favorite product is back in stock? Or Maybe you receive an email from your favorite store with a whopping discount just because they miss you.

So, how does this make you feel? It feels incredible, doesn’t it? This is the beauty of personalization. And they leverage AI to run the personalization process.

Now, put yourself in the shoes of an ecommerce store owner who deals with hundreds of consumers every day. Personalization becomes a bit difficult, understandably. But what if AI could help you out?

Unlike putting in manual efforts, AI uses advanced algorithms and data analysis, which intelligently predicts user behavior and customizes your approach to offer your audience a unique and engaging experience.

This personalized approach not only captures attention but also establishes a deeper connection with potential leads. In fact,  89% of marketers say that personalization fetches them positive ROI.

By understanding and responding to each customer’s needs, AI personalization makes conversion an easy possibility.

Whether it’s recommending relevant products, delivering targeted messages, or predicting user intent, AI makes every interaction meaningful.

And 2024 is a tech-savvy era. With so many OpenAI development companies assisting businesses create their own generative AI model, there is no shortage of tools that can be used for personalizing communication throughout the customer journey. So instead of shying away from technology, it’s high time that you embrace it.

3. Social Media Marketing

From the time of its inception, social media has changed the way we humans communicate and consume content. Today, 66% of marketers generate leads from social media by spending only six hours per week on social media marketing.

Platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn hold so much potential. The key is to come up with a well-structured marketing campaign plan and have engaging content that fully resonates with your audience.

Offering product or service demos is a potent lead-generation strategy. It offers firsthand experience, which lets potential customers interact with your offering.

You no longer have to go on and on about how great it can be. Instead, your consumers can go through its functionality to see if it aligns with their requirements.

Remember, with free demos, you are engaging prospects in a practical, immersive way. Demos cut through all the noise and make a lasting impression.

5. Email Marketing

Don’t shun email marketing just because it has been around for quite some time now. It is still powerful and going strong in 2024. It generates $42 for every $1 spent.

Email marketing makes use of targeted campaigns to nurture potential customers. However, plain old boring emails won’t cut. This is the era is all about being different. Don’t hesitate to experiment if you must. The end result must be alluring and personalized messages that solve the specific needs and pain points of your audience.

Strategic segmentation is a must to make sure that each email resonates with its intended audience.

Most importantly, don’t forget to implement calls-to-action and exclusive offers to push your audience to take the desired steps to move them through the sales funnel. Consider incorporating engaging email newsletters to regularly deliver valuable content and updates, nurturing your relationship with subscribers. Again, don’t create emails for the sake of it. Analyze metrics and fine-tune your approach as you go.

6. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Your website and SEO go hand in hand. When you amplify your website content, meta tags, and backlinks, you are taking care of SEO. These efforts are rewarded by elevating your online visibility. This is the first step to conversion.

This visibility captivates organic traffic and can convert casual browsers into potential sales leads. Keyword optimization is still a strong SEO tactic in 2024 that aligns content with user intent. This is super crucial to strike a connection between your brand and your target audience.

Chatbots can be your secret weapon when it comes to lead generation. Why? Because they provide instant and personalized interactions on websites.

Your AI assistant can also collect user data and preferences. The immediate response and 24/7 availability can improve user experience. After all, if someone is there for you whenever you need them, it just makes you feel good!

The influencer marketing industry is now at $21.1 billion, and it has only seen upward growth since it became popular in the recent decade. So, in this era when everyone relies on social media, influencers can help you reach your goals quite effortlessly.

Here, you partner with influencers whose ideologies resonate with your brand value. You use the trust and credibility these influencers have built within their niche and tap into their established audiences.

For instance, let’s say you are a skincare product. You can collaborate with a well-known influencer for an authentic endorsement. This type of social proof can do wonders.

By strategically partnering with relevant influencers, you can generate high-quality leads who are already interested in your products or services, making influencer marketing a powerful tool for B2C lead generation.

10. Webinars

When it comes to lead generation, webinars may be the last thing on your mind. But it’s time to give this idea some merit. 89% of marketers say that webinars perform better than other channels when it comes to producing qualified leads.

One of the reasons why it strikes the right cord is because it combines education and engagement. Hosting webinars positions your brand as an industry authority. When the quality of your webinar is high, it helps attract a targeted audience looking for valuable insights.

During your webinar, make sure you address queries in real-time. This instantly creates a direct and personal connection.

Also, attendees willingly provide contact information to access the event. It helps you with a set of engaged prospects for post-webinar follow-ups.

Bonus: Use Q & A Platforms Like “Quora”

Quora has over 300 million monthly visitors. You might have logged in too in search of a solution. We all do. However, the platform is still underestimated in marketing circles.

If you are wondering how Quora can help you, well, it helps businesses understand the audience’s problems by providing a space for users to pose questions and seek answers.

Let’s say, you are an agency. You come across a question about content marketing. Now, avoid fluff and advertisement-like content at all costs. Instead, be genuine and write authentic answers. In the end, direct users to your website. Do it strategically to convert a Quora user into a qualified lead.

Final Words

As a business owner, you already know how crucial lead generation is for you. But the key lies in choosing the right set of strategies that align with your business needs.

Remember, what works for business X may not work the same way for business Y. Lead gen is never a one-size-fits-all solution. That said, when you implement the top tips we have discussed in the above article, you are bound to make a mark.

What if I told you that your content marketing strategy is only half as effective without using graphic design? It’s like serving a gourmet meal on a trash can lid – the quality is there, but the presentation is all wrong.

Imagine that you’re scrolling through your favorite online platform – what stops your thumb in its tracks? Is it the lengthy posts, or the visuals that tell a story without even a single word? I think that answer is more obvious now than ever. As a digital marketer and graphic design veteran who has witnessed the evolution of the industry over the last 17+ years, I’ve come to a realization: in our rush to improve the process of content creation, most creators often underestimate the profound influence that graphic design has on their content.

Every marketer knows that we live in a digitally dominant era where content is king, but what is missed is that it’s the visual elements that truly command attention, and get the coveted click.

Along my journey, from creating award winning brands to crafting successful marketing strategies, I’ve observed a pivotal shift in the way content marketing is done. Content marketing is not just about polarizing words on a screen; it’s about the powerful interplay of text and visuals.

So, I want to pose to you an often overlooked but crucial question: Is our content truly engaging people without graphic design to breathe life into it?

In this article I want to dive deeper into the often-underrated role of graphic design in the content marketing world, and discover how it’s not just complementing, but revolutionizing the way we connect and build value with our audiences online.

In observing strategies employed by industry leaders like Chris Do, Gary Vee, Mark DeGrasse and many
others, it’s really obvious that graphic design is at the forefront of today’s most engaging content marketing tactics. A great example is how we’ve seen a huge surge in the use of image carousels, which not only capture attention but also tell a captivating story through a sequence of 2 to 10 visual slides.

These are more than just a graphic; they’re chapters of a bigger narrative, each slide enticing the viewer to keep swiping, leading usually to a call to action at the end of the Carousel. Equally impactful are the cleverly crafted memes that have become a staple in not just social media but all digital communication.

These aren’t just jokes or passing trends; they represent a brilliant form of graphic design that combines humor, relatability, and sharp commentary, making them irresistibly shareable.

True story, when I first came back into contact with my now wife, the way our relationship rekindled after over a decade of being out of touch was through animated meme’s many of us know as GIF’s. Whether it’s to express a feeling, make someone laugh, or even piss someone off, meme’s and animated Gifs are one of the most disruptive pieces of content marketing we’ve ever seen.

It’s a blend of storytelling and visual appeal that sets apart mundane content from the articles and posts that go viral, driving home the point that graphic design is no longer just an aesthetic choice – it’s a strategic one. I’m using thoughtfully designed images in my stories, my LinkedIn Posts, my Facebook and Circle group, on my Google Business Profile, landing pages, and even on my YouTube Channel.

These days, just about anyone can create images that make people stop scrolling and take notice. It hasn’t always been this easy, though. The rise of user-friendly design tools, like Canva, has significantly changed the game in content marketing. With Canva, and tools like it, creating attractive content isn’t just for professional designers anymore, even my wife uses Canva for her business constantly. Now, almost anyone can put together visually appealing designs, it’s opened up a whole new world of possibilities for how we create and share our messages.

Canva’s emergence as a serious contender to Adobe’s suite highlights a growing trend: graphic design is no longer the exclusive domain of professional designers. With user-friendly interfaces and an abundance of resources, these platforms empower even non-designers to create visually appealing content. However, this ease of access has presented a new challenge.

The online space is now saturated with visually appealing content, making it increasingly difficult to create graphics that not only grab attention but also compel the viewer to click and engage. As a result, the bar for what is deemed ‘eye-catching’ design is constantly being raised.

This oversaturation draws attention to a critical area of my expertise: in an era where high-quality design tools are at everyone’s fingertips, the true differentiator is no longer just about having visually appealing content. It’s about crafting designs that are not only visually stunning but also uniquely tailored to cut through the noise and resonate with your target audience.

It’s a delicate balance of aesthetics and strategic thinking, where understanding the nuances of your brand and target avatar or audience’s preferences becomes as important as the design itself. This is a far cry from the early days of content marketing, so let’s journey back a bit in time to understand how we transitioned from a text-heavy approach to one where visuals are not just complementary but central to our messaging.

It’s important to look back at how this fits into the bigger picture of content marketing’s evolution. This shift from detailed text to striking visuals didn’t happen overnight. It’s a change that’s been brewing for a while, driven by our audience’s growing preference for quick, visually engaging content over long, text-heavy posts.

We’ve come a long way from the days of text-dominated marketing, I can still remember writing my first long articles on Blogger trying to build my personal brand. Everyday we are moving more towards a world where vibrant images and graphics do most of the talking and at least give the first impression, good or bad.

The Evolution of Content Marketing: A Visual Journey

So let’s dive deeper. In the beginning, the internet was a frontier of mostly text. Content marketing was
primarily about words, like articles, blogs, and emails. There was no social media, it was a world dominated by lengthy web pages filled with paragraphs of information, where visuals played a minimal role, often just an afterthought. The primary aim was to inform and educate, with businesses and marketers relying heavily on written content to reach their audience.

Graphics and images were used sparingly, primarily due to technological limitations. Slow internet speeds and less sophisticated web design tools meant that visuals were often basic and not the focal point of content.

The art of marketing was more about telling than showing, with the emphasis placed on the power of words to paint a picture. This text-heavy approach aligned with the audience’s expectations of the time, as they were accustomed to receiving information primarily through reading.

As the digital landscape began to evolve, so did the tools and platforms at our disposal. The introduction of more sophisticated graphic design software marked a turning point in content marketing. Suddenly, creating amazing visuals wasn’t just for the pros. Tools that were once complex and inaccessible began to transform, becoming more user-friendly and widely available.

This popularization of design tools coincided with the rise of broadband internet, making it easier to upload and share high-quality images, graphics and even videos.Websites became more visually appealing, and the audience’s expectations began to change as well.

Around the same time, the birth of social media platforms added fuel to this growing fire. Platforms like
Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter were not just about connecting people; they were (and still are) visual
mediums at their foundation. They allowed for the sharing of images and videos, leading to a more dynamic form of engagement.

Content that included compelling visuals or eye-catching graphics started to see higher engagement rates. Consumers began to crave and expect a visual component in their online interactions, gradually moving away from the text-heavy content of the past.

This period was a game-changer for me and as a creative person. It wasn’t just about the availability of better tools or faster internet; it was a shift in consumer behavior. People started to prefer quick, visual snippets of information over lengthy textual content. The quick consumption of information became the norm, and content marketing had to adapt.

Visuals were no longer just an embellishment; they became essential to capturing and retaining our audience’s attention. This transition phase has set the stage for a new era in content marketing, one where visuals are not just important but often the main attraction.

In today’s digital marketing landscape, the prominence of visual content creation is unmistakable. Tools like Canva and Midjourney have not only simplified the process of creating visually appealing content but have also raised the bar for what audiences expect. Canva, with its user-friendly interface, empowers even those with little to no design skills to create professional-looking graphics.

Midjourney, takes things even a step further by harnessing the power of AI (artificial intelligence), allowing creators to bring complex visual ideas to life quickly and easily, simply by typing in a text command of what you want. These tools are more than just conveniences; they represent a fundamental shift in how content is created and consumed. They enable brands to produce high-quality visuals quickly, ensuring that their digital presence is both vibrant and engaging.

The visual shift is most evident on social media platforms, where the battle for attention is fierce on these free to use sites. Platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok thrive on imagery and video content, pushing brands to think visually first. This visually-driven approach isn’t just about making designs that look pretty; it’s about communication and true connection.

Brands are now telling their stories through images, infographics, meme’s and videos, creating content that is not only visually captivating but also Emotionally impactful. I believe this trend has set a new standard in content marketing, the ability to convey a message through compelling visuals is just as important as the message itself. The transformation of content marketing from its text-dominated beginnings to the visually-rich experience we see today is a clear indication of how audience preferences have evolved. In the current landscape, content is evaluated not just on the information it conveys but also on its visual presentation.

Brands that acknowledge and adapt to this evolution, utilizing tools like Canva and Midjourney to craft engaging, visually appealing content, are the ones that truly stand out. As we forge ahead in the dynamic world of digital marketing, our ability to effectively communicate through visuals has become a fundamental skill.

This move towards a more visual approach in content marketing is a signpost of future trends, making it critical for every brands to stay current and embrace this change to make a meaningful impact. Brands that stay ahead of the curve and integrate this change into their strategies are the ones that will make a lasting mark in the marketplace and digital world as a whole. By embracing these evolving trends, companies can ensure they remain relevant, compelling, and connected with their audiences.

Simply put, the key to success in this era is clear: embrace the visual, and let it amplify your brand’s voice in the digital conversation.

Graphic Design: The Unsung Hero of Content Engagement

At the heart of every successful content marketing strategy lies an often-overlooked hero: graphic design. Beyond mere aesthetics, graphic design has a profound psychological impact on an audiences engagement. It’s not just about looking good; it’s about feeling right. Visuals can evoke emotions, stir memories, and influence decisions, making them a powerful tool in capturing and maintaining your audience’s attention.

Studies and statistics reinforce this concept. For example, according to Forbes, content with relevant images gets 94% more views than content without images. On top of that, social media posts with visuals see significantly higher engagement rates than those without. These figures highlight a simple truth: in the realm of digital marketing, a picture doesn’t just complement your message; it can be the message.

But what makes a graphic design so effective in content marketing? It’s more than just choosing the right images. It’s about having a deep understanding of color psychology, typography, imagery, and layout design. Each of these elements plays a role in how your content is perceived and received. For example, color can influence mood and brand perception, while typography affects readability and the tone of your message.

A well-designed piece of content can tell a story, create a mood, and convey a message in a way words alone can just can’t do. A compelling infographic can simplify a ton of complex information, while a well-crafted social media graphic will make your content shareable and memorable. As we explore these elements, we’ll see how graphic design is not just supporting content but is often driving its success.

In wrapping up this exploration of using graphic design to increase content engagement, it’s clear that its role is pivotal. From the way colors and typography influence our emotion and perception, to how layouts and images drive interaction and shareability, graphic design is at the heart of effective communication. It’s not just about making content look cool; it’s about making it resonate with your audience on the deepest level possible.

As we continue to navigate the evolving landscape of content marketing, the importance of understanding and leveraging these design elements cannot be overemphasized. The brands that do this well will not only capture massive attention but also create lasting connections with their audience which turn into massive ROI. Graphic design in content marketing is more than just an aesthetic choice; it’s a strategic necessity.

Graphic Design & Brand Identity: Telling a Brand’s Story

Moving beyond content engagement, graphic design also plays a fundamental role in shaping and
communicating your brand’s identity. It’s a powerful tool that goes beyond visual aesthetics, encapsulating a brand’s values, personality, and story. In our over saturated digital marketplace, where consumers encounter countless new brands daily, graphic design helps brands distinguish themselves.

Take, for example, Apple. Their minimalist design approach, with clean lines and a sleek, monochromatic color scheme, isn’t just about looks. It conveys elegance, simplicity, and innovation, which are core to the brand’s identity and it’s that identity that has created a cult-like following, people that will blindly buy anything that Apple makes. Their design philosophy extends beyond their products to their advertising, website, and even retail spaces, creating a consistent and powerful brand experience that’s instantly recognizable.

Another notable example is Coca-Cola. Their use of bold reds and the dynamic ribbon, along with the classic typography of their logo, creates a sense of familiarity and nostalgia. These design elements are consistent across all of their marketing materials, reinforcing their brand identity as one that’s timeless yet always current.

Alongside the commercial brands, consider America as a brand itself. This might seem unconventional, but America, or the United States of America, stands as one of the most globally recognized and powerful ‘brand’ entities. Its brand identity extends far beyond just a name; it embodies concepts of freedom, prosperity, and opportunity. This brand image isn’t a product of mere coincidence or financial might; it’s a result of carefully crafted symbols and narratives.

From the iconic red, white, and blue colors symbolizing valor, purity, and perseverance to symbols like the bald eagle, the American flag, and the Statue of Liberty, each element tells a part of the American story. These elements resonate with people not just within the country, but around the world. They are visual reminders and representations of the values the brand ‘America’ stands for.

Just like Apple and Coca-Cola, America’s brand strategy highlights the importance of a cohesive narrative in design, where every visual element contributes to the overall identity and message of the brand.

Graphic design from the perspective of brand identity is about more than creating a visually appealing logo or choosing the right colors. It’s about weaving a visual narrative that tells your brand’s story at every touchpoint, engaging all of the 5 senses. It’s the subtle nuances in design that communicate a brand’s ethos and values to the consumer, building a relationship beyond the product or service.

Graphic design is a key player in the storytelling aspect of brand identity. The brands that excel in this are the ones that understand the power of visual storytelling and harness it to build a strong, cohesive, and enduring identity. As we progress in the digital age, our ability to tell a compelling visual story will become increasingly crucial in establishing and maintaining a robust brand presence.

The Synergy Between Graphic Design & SEO

While it’s super clear that graphic design is crucial in telling a brand’s story and engaging audiences, there’s another, often overlooked aspect where it plays a vital role: Search Engine Optimization (SEO). At first, graphic design and SEO might seem like distant cousins, but in reality, they work hand in hand together to boost a brand’s online presence. Good design isn’t just about catching the eye; it’s about being found in the massive red ocean of the online marketplace.

I want you to consider the role of user experience in SEO. Search engines, like Google, favor websites that provide a positive user experience, and graphic design is at the heart of this. A well-designed website with intuitive navigation, responsive layouts, and engaging visuals keeps visitors on the site longer, reducing bounce rates and signaling to search engines that your site is valuable.

This is where mobile-friendliness comes into play. With the majority of online browsing happening on mobile devices now, having a mobile-responsive design isn’t just nice to have; it’s crucial. According to Forbes As of Q2 2022, 58.99% percent of all web traffic came through mobile phones Websites that aren’t optimized for mobile viewing suffer in search rankings and performance overall, but you probably already know that unless you’ve been living under a rock.

Then there’s the power of infographics. Infographics are SEO gold – they present information in an easily
digestible, visually appealing format, making them highly shareable. A well-crafted infographic will earn
backlinks, a key factor in SEO, as other websites use it as a reference. This not only increases your site’s
visibility but also establishes your brand’s authority in your field. Are you using infographics on your website?

To optimize your visuals for search engines, start with the basics: ensure all your images have descriptive, keyword-rich file names and alt text. This helps search engines understand and index your visuals, improving your content’s visibility. Also, keep an eye on image file sizes. Large images will slow down your site, negatively impacting user experience and, by extension, your SEO.

Bridging the gap between graphic design and SEO may seem challenging, but it’s a connection that will
elevate your content marketing strategy to a new level. By integrating thoughtful, SEO-friendly design elements into your digital presence, you not only enhance user experience but also improve your chances of ranking higher in search results, making your content more discoverable, impactful, and most importantly profitable.

The Future of Graphic Design in Content Marketing

As we’ve explored the dynamic relationship between graphic design and SEO in reshaping our approach to content marketing, it’s essential to turn our gaze to the horizon, and to what lies ahead. As I’m reflecting on themes from my previous article about the future of design, the influence of AI on graphic design and content marketing is undeniably profound. We’re stepping into a new era where technology meets creativity, opening exciting new possibilities for both marketers and designers.

The role of AI in graphic design is already making waves, with tools that create impressive visuals and layouts with little human input. But this is just the beginning.

Looking forward, AI is expected to revolutionize not just how we create designs but also introduce a new level of personalization and interaction in content. Imagine having content that morphs according to the viewer’s preferences or interactive infographics that evolve based on user interaction – this is the potential that AI and emerging technologies are bringing to the forefront.

Augmented reality (AR) is another thrilling area to watch. AR in content marketing could drastically alter how brands engage with their audiences, offering immersive, interactive experiences beyond the conventional screen. Visualize a scenario where consumers can virtually interact with a product, or where storytelling extends beyond traditional media to become an immersive encounter.

Another groundbreaking example of where design meets futuristic technology is in the use of augmented reality (AR) by glass companies to create ‘Smart Glass.’ This innovative application is transforming the retail experience, particularly in fashion storefronts. Imagine walking past a store and seeing a display window equipped with Smart Glass.

As you look into the glass, AR technology projects clothing from the store onto your reflection, allowing you to see what the outfit would look like on you, without ever stepping into the store or trying on the clothes.

This interactive experience is not only engaging and convenient for customers but also opens up new avenues for brands to showcase their products in a personalized and interactive manner. By integrating AR with graphic design, retailers can create a dynamic and immersive shopping experience that blends the physical and digital worlds, offering a glimpse into the future of retail marketing.

The move towards personalized visuals is expected to accelerate. Where customization reigns supreme, the capability to tailor content to individual tastes and behaviors is crucial. This means crafting graphics and visuals that not only appeal to a broad audience but also connect intimately with each individual viewer.

For those of us in content marketing and graphic design, it’s crucial to keep pace with these trends and begin weaving them into our strategies. The future of graphic design in content marketing is ripe with opportunities for groundbreaking innovations and deeper connections with our audience.

Embracing these emerging trends and experimenting with novel technologies will help us craft content that is not just viewed but deeply experienced in completely new and exciting ways.

Disruptive Graphic Design: Thinking Outside the Box

Let’s dive into some real-life examples where audacious design choices made a real difference. Imagine a campaign that boldly went against the grain, perhaps using a strikingly unconventional color scheme or an offbeat layout to make a statement. For instance, ‘Lions Not Sheep’, founded by Sean Whalen, transcends being merely a clothing line; it embodies a lifestyle.

Its success lies not in intricate designs but in its straightforward, bold messaging with army-style lettering. Phrases like ‘Lions Not Sheep’, ‘Free Man’, and ‘Free Woman’ have driven millions in merchandise sales monthly, proving how simplicity paired with a strong message can captivate an audience.

Another example of such disruptive design is Robinhood, the stock trading and investing app. By deviating from the complex interfaces of traditional stock platforms, Robinhood offers a simple user-friendly app with a clean, intuitive design. This approach not only disrupted the stock brokerage industry but also made investing more accessible, highlighting how innovative design can simplify and transform user experience.

Adopting a trailblazing approach in your design work means stepping into uncharted territory. It’s about
experimenting with bold contrasts, innovative layouts, or unique imagery while staying true to your brand’s essence. Striking the right balance is key.

Test out new ideas, seek feedback, and be ready to refine. It’s not just about being different; it’s about being authentically you, in a way that connects with your audience on a deeper level. This journey is about finding that sweet spot where your brand’s voice and unconventional design meet.

Wrapping up, the essence of standout content marketing often lies in the courage to be different in your design approach. For me, disruptive graphic design is an invitation to challenge the status quo, to be boldly creative, and to stretch the limits of what’s possible.

As you integrate these ideas into your marketing, remember that the most memorable designs often emerge from a willingness to be bold and original. I want to encourage you and your team to break the mold, to experiment fearlessly, and to embrace the exciting possibilities that come with innovative design. It’s in this space of creativity and daring where your brand can truly make its unique mark in the digital landscape.

Integrating Graphic Design in Your Content Marketing Strategy

My mentor Nicholas Bayerle says that “information plus application creates the transformation”, integrating graphic design isn’t an afterthought; it’s a necessity. As we’ve seen through my examples, the impact of well- thought-out design can elevate content from ordinary to extraordinary. This integration isn’t solely about making content look good; it’s about enhancing your message and engaging the audience more effectively.

Effective collaboration between content marketers and graphic designers is pivotal. This synergy can be
achieved when both parties understand and appreciate the strengths of the other. Content marketers should communicate the core message and target audience clearly, while designers need to bring these narratives to life visually.

Content Marketing Certification

Regular meetings and brainstorming sessions will help align these two creative processes. Using collaborative tools and platforms can also streamline the process, ensuring that both design and content complement each other seamlessly.

A big step in integrating graphic design into your content marketing strategy is to conduct an audit of your existing content. Evaluate your current assets and identify where design can play a more significant role.

Does your blog have appealing featured images? Are your social media posts scroll stopping? Look for opportunities to incorporate more graphics, such as infographics in blog posts or visually rich stories on social media. Remember, the goal is to enhance and not overshadow the content’s message.

Actionable Tips for Stronger Design Integration

To effectively integrate graphic design, consider these actionable tips:

  1. Consistency is key – maintain a consistent design language across all platforms to strengthen brand
    identity.
  2. Understand your avatars – design with your target audience in mind, ensuring the visuals resonate with
    them.
  3. Use design to clarify and enhance your message – visuals should complement and elevate the content,
    not confuse or distract.
  4. Keep up with design trends – but only adopt those that align with your brand’s voice and message.
  5. Test and get feedback – use analytics and user feedback to understand what works and refine your
    approach accordingly.

Different content types require different approaches. For instance, social media posts might benefit from bold, eye-catching graphics, while whitepapers will need more subtle, informative visual elements. Videos can be enhanced with branded animations and motion graphics. It’s about finding the right visual approach for each content type while ensuring it aligns with your overall branding and strategy.

Integrating graphic design into content marketing is more than just a combination of words and visuals; it’s the creation of a cohesive, compelling narrative that speaks to your audience. By effectively blending these two elements, you can elevate your content marketing strategy, making your message not only seen but also felt and remembered. It’s this synergy that will set your content apart in the digital realm.

As we wrap up our journey through the multifaceted world of graphic design in content marketing, it’s clear that design is much more than just an aesthetic element. From the evolution of content that prioritizes visuals to the innovative integration of AI and AR, graphic design has proven to be vital in engaging and resonating with audiences. The demand for disruptive design further illustrates our need for creativity and boldness in an increasingly competitive online world.

The fusion of graphic design with content marketing is not just a trend but a fundamental shift in how we
communicate and connect with our audience. Whether through the seamless collaboration of designers and content creators or the strategic use of emerging technologies, integrating graphic design effectively can dramatically enhance the impact of your content.

As you move forward in your content marketing efforts, I encourage you to view graphic design not just as a tool, but as an essential partner in storytelling. Audit your current content, identify opportunities for stronger design integration, and dare to experiment with unconventional approaches. Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies, and remember that in the realm of digital marketing, the most powerful content is that which can captivate both visually and narratively.

In closing, ask yourself this: how can you further intertwine the art of design with the science of marketing to craft content that is not only informative but also visually compelling? The future of content marketing is a canvas awaiting your creativity, and graphic design is the brush with which you can paint a story that leaves a lasting impression.

In the digital arena, it’s not just about creating content; it’s about designing experiences that resonate and engage.

Want to grow your business faster?…without paying crazy amounts on paid advertising?

Organic marketing is the answer. (Keep reading for my secrets).

My name is Connor Gillivan. I’ve been an Entrepreneur for 12+ years scaling multiple businesses to 6, 7, and 8 figures w/ an exit in 2019. Today, I run marketing for my portfolio of 4 businesses.

The majority of my success in business has been through organic marketing.

In this article, I’ll share my top 7 organic marketing strategies.

  1. SEO
  2. Partnerships
  3. Podcast interviews
  4. Social media
  5. Content marketing
  6. CRO
  7. Email marketing

By the end, you’ll have a headful of ideas to execute for growing your business.

Let’s dive into it!

My 7 Organic Marketing Strategies

In this section, I’ll define the 7 organic marketing strategies that I mentioned and give examples of each so that you can fully understand how they can help grow your business.

1. SEO

SEO is the act of creating content on your website (pages & blog articles) that rank for specific keywords your ideal customer is searching for on Google and other search engines.

For example, let’s say that you run an eCommerce business selling baby clothes. Your baby clothes are organic, custom-made, sourced from the US, and fashionable.

With SEO, you’d want to rank for keywords like:

  • “Organic baby clothing”
  • “Baby clothes made in the US”
  • “Fashionable baby clothing”

By investing in SEO, you can optimize your website, pages, and content with the goal of ranking on the 1st page of search results.

This will drive traffic to your website where you can convert users into email subscribers and customers.

2. Partnerships

Partnerships is a marketing strategy where you team up with other companies in your industry where you’re not competing with one another, but you’re targeting the same ideal customer profile (ICP).

For example, one of my companies is AccountsBalance, a monthly bookkeeping service for agencies, service providers, & SAAS companies.

We have a Partner Program where we partner with 100s of other digital service providers, softwares, tools, and influencers.

To start, we add each other to our Partner pages (exchanging backlinks), we feature each other in our newsletters (brand awareness & lead generation), then we find other ways to send leads both ways on a quarterly basis.

Relationship building turns into brand awareness, visitors to your website, referrals, leads, & customers.

3. Podcast Interviews

Most people know podcasts for listening to them, but there’s another side to it that is extremely beneficial for organic marketing.

When I say “podcast interviews”, I’m referring to the marketing practice of getting interviewed on podcasts within your industry where you can share your expertise, establish yourself as a thought leader, and attract new customers to your business.

For example, my business partner, Nathan Hirsch, has been interviewed on 500+ podcasts in the past 5 years. We have a system where we research top podcasts in our niches where our ideal customers are reading then we reach out and pitch them to interview Nathan. He goes on the podcast & drives leads to our businesses.

When you do this consistently for months, you create a lot of “buzz” around you and your business.

That “buzz” turns into new website traffic, leads, and customers.

4. Social Media

Yes, we all know what social media is, but there’s a specific way to do it for organic marketing that can drive lots of interested customers to your business.

I encourage you to look at social media as a platform where you can establish yourself as a subject matter expert (SME), build a following, and turn followers into paying customers.

Here’s an example. I own and run marketing for 4 businesses and I use LinkedIn as a social media channel to establish myself as an SEO expert & entrepreneur, which drives customers to our companies.

My ideal customer spends time on LinkedIn. I build trust with them through my daily posts & teaching them the SEO & marketing methods that are working best for me.

It takes time, consistency, a good process, and dedication, but social media is an amazing place to reach your ideal customer.

5. Content Marketing

Content marketing is the organic marketing practice of creating high value content that speaks directly to your ideal customer and pulls them into your email list so that you can continue “talking” to them.

Here’s some examples of content marketing:

  • Infographics
  • Ebooks
  • Checklists
  • White papers
  • Webinars
  • Free trainings

Content marketing helps to “pull” your ideal customer into your business so they know you’re an option as they look to solve different problems they have.

6. CRO

CRO stands for conversion rate optimization.

CRO is the act of optimizing your website and all of its pages for converting as many website visitors as possible into email subscribers or paying customers.

You’ve Been Taught SEO ALL WRONG

Become a Certified Search Marketing Specialist and Start Boosting Your Sales by Attracting and Converting Your Ideal Leads Everywhere They Are.

Let’s look at an example. You figure out the first 5 organic marketing channels and you start driving 1,000s of visitors to your website every month. Congrats on that first of all! But does it really matter if none of those people convert into email subscribers or customers?

That’s where CRO comes in. You dive into the design, content, and performance of each page on your website to see how you can convert more visitors into subscribers and customers.

7. Email Marketing

Last, but certainly not least is email marketing. Email marketing is building an owned email list of people that are interested in your business, you, and the products/services that you offer. Then regularly communicating with those people through a newsletter and automated email campaigns to convert them into paying customers.

It’s great to get people to sign up for your email list or newsletter, but if you’re not communicating with them, it’s worthless. You need an email marketing strategy where you’re communicating with them, getting to know them better, answering their questions, and building trust with them.

For example, one of my companies, Outsource School, is focused on teaching business owners how to hire and scale their business with virtual assistants and freelancers from the Philippines. We run a weekly newsletter that provides free advice and strategies on outsourcing to 5,000+ potential customers. We build additional trust with them each week and over time many of them become members.

Marketing is a vital element of any SME’s operation—especially if you’re just starting out.

Marketing is a way to get your name out there, reel in new customers, convert browsers to buyers, and build a core of loyal customers who will sustain your business through thick and thin.

All in all, marketing is worth doing—and it’s worth doing well. But of course, marketing comes with its fair share of challenges, not least the fact that it can be expensive.

Many SME owners are willing to grit their teeth and pay top dollar for great marketing. After all,, marketing campaigns can have fantastic ROI in terms of profit generated. That said, if you’re concerned about cash flow, it’s worth trying to make your marketing as cost-effective as possible.

With the right marketing strategies and the best software to back you up, it’s possible to make your campaigns more efficient without spending too much. You can generate significant campaign results for relatively little outlay through clever, targeted tactics and consistent engagement with your user base.

How? Let’s take a look.

Partner with Influencers & Brand Ambassadors

In terms of marketing efficiency, influencer marketing has a massive advantage over branded posts. Why? Influencers have incredible reach and committed followers who trust their recommendations.

The best influencers are also adept at digital storytelling, enabling them to create compelling, engaging content that resonates with audiences.

That said, it’s essential that you approach the right influencer to be your brand ambassador. Pick someone likely to appeal to your target customers.

To do this, dig into your customer metrics and establish what (and who) your customers will likely find engaging, informative, or simply entertaining. Go through your marketing data, CRM, and customer service records to better understand who your customers are and what they want.

It’s also worth investing in an ERP system, as this can connect all your data repositories, making it significantly easier to collect, collate, and understand your customer’s activity in a meaningful way. You can then use what you’ve learned to pinpoint the perfect influencer for your brand and which products they should focus on.

Encourage Training & Upskilling

Your staff is your best resource—and a more efficient marketing team means more efficient marketing.

Training and upskilling may seem expensive, but it’s worth the investment. A talented, well-trained marketing team can exponentially boost your marketing ROI.

Conducting training shouldn’t be a one-off, either. Marketing is constantly evolving. So marketers need to have their fingers firmly pressed on the pulse of industry trends and events.

Regular retraining and upskilling will keep your marketers up-to-date with current marketing trends. This, in turn, will enable them to work at the cutting edge of their industry.

Focus on SEO

SEO is a highly efficient, cost-effective way to boost your business’s online presence. You can get to the top of Google’s search rankings with relative ease by using an effective SEO strategy.

It’s a simple equation: as Google is often the first place people turn to when looking for a product or service, the more Googlable your business is, the more leads you will bring in.

To boost your SEO, you need to think about the following:

  • Producing high-quality content
  • Engaging with online audiences
  • Having a solid, reputable online presence
  • Keeping your social media updated
  • Using keywords in your online content
  • Staying on top of algorithm changes and SEO trends

Partner with Complementary Businesses

Building a network is a fantastic way to establish your brand without chewing into your marketing budget.

If you can find a business that complements your own, partnering with them for content campaigns and other messages could be a win-win situation.

For example, let’s say you’re in the business of selling cookware. A company that produces or sells cooking ingredients could be a fantastic partner. Together, you could produce recipe blog posts, video tutorials, and culinary tips featuring your cookware and their ingredients, all for relatively little cost.

You can then post this content across your brand’s platforms and theirs, doubling your reach in a single stroke.

Again, businesses you partner with must be relevant to your own. For example, if your cookware company partners with an art supplies store, customers will struggle to see the connection between the two. After all, art enthusiasts aren’t heading to a creative blog for cooking tips, nor will your customers expect to find painting tutorials on your social media channels!

With that in mind, look for businesses with a customer base likely to be interested in your products and vice versa.

Foster User-Generated Content

User-generated content (UGC) can make a big impact.

A good UGC campaign can simultaneously send engagement levels through the roof, boost brand/customer relationships, and vastly increase your reach.

Let’s take a look at a simple, but very successful, example.

In 2022, Shakira released a track with the Black Eyed Peas. Having been out of the mainstream eye for a while and wanting to make a huge comeback, Shakira generated a buzz about this new track by calling on fans old and new.

Her #girllikeme challenge invited TikTokkers to recreate the complex dance from the ‘Girl Like Me’ music video. Unable to resist, TikTok exploded with dance videos. In response, Shakira posted compilations of the best, most inventive, most amusing, and most relatable on her Instagram account.

The upshot was that the track gained a huge boost in plays and popularity. In addition, the hashtag had nearly 500 million views, and Shakira was catapulted back into the mainstream media.

You may not be Shakira, but you can still create a memorable, wide-reaching marketing campaign by encouraging UGC challenges, hashtags, and so on.

Think about how you can challenge customers to get creative with your products and share the results, whether it’s fun ways to reuse packaging or funny photos of pets using your product.

Contests are also a great way of incentivizing users to create content. The price of awarding a prize is worth the ROI of a successful UGC campaign.

Repurpose or Update Old Campaigns

You don’t want to churn out the same old ideas. But at the same time, there is little point in changing a winning formula just for the sake of it.

If an ongoing campaign is working well, keep using it. If a particular message or campaign worked well in the past, freshen it up and reuse it.

Even if you can’t recycle them, old campaigns are a great resource. Historic campaign data can offer useful insights about what does and doesn’t resonate with your customers.

If you want to be thorough, you should compare your campaign data with historical customer and sales data. This will give you a more in-depth analysis and help you to pinpoint why specific campaigns were successful.

To do this, make use of tools like cloud ERP software. This will give you access to the data you need, but also, as it’s a cloud-based solution, it will allow anyone on the team to access data from anywhere.

In this way, the marketing team can easily cross-reference campaign data with metrics like customer satisfaction, conversion rate, and complaints. It’s also beneficial for collaborating with other departments in real-time, so you can access historical data to make better decisions, even if you’re on the go.

But, it is important to be proactive about this. Simply churning out the same old campaigns because they worked once isn’t going to cut it.

Customer tastes change quickly. So, even if you feel that a campaign is still as relevant and engaging as before, it’s still essential that you update it for today’s market.

Utilize Referral Marketing

This is often confused with word-of-mouth marketing and UGC marketing. While there is some overlap between the three, referral marketing is different enough to deserve its own category.

Referral marketing directly incentivizes the customer to bring in new customers. In a typical example, a brand will offer customers a reward—often cashback, a gift card, discount, or free gift—if they persuade a friend to sign up for your service.

It’s worth noting that referral marketing is more common for businesses offering services rather than selling products. These businesses need customers to actively sign up for an ongoing brand/customer relationship rather than simply purchasing a new product whenever needed. However, it can work for product vendors as well.

To make sure customers are properly rewarded for referrals, set up a referral link system. When someone signs up using a customer’s referral link, your ERP software or other system will automatically note the details so everyone gets their referral bonus.

Efficient marketing campaigns don’t have to be expensive. Through careful planning, clear customer insights, an effective ERP system, and clever strategizing, you can run great campaigns with brilliant ROI, for very little initial outlay.

Digital channels offer huge opportunities to leverage your network and engage your customer base in brand-building ways without breaking the bank.

Sure, you get what you pay for in terms of staff, graphics, and so on. But marketing efficiency is more about knowing where and when to deploy that money. It’s about being strategic and insightful, rather than hoping that money will talk.

With the right approach, you can achieve a high degree of marketing efficiency and fantastic ROI—and you don’t have to increase marketing spend to do it.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Conversions are your bottom line. You can have the best SEO, the best relationships, and more social shares than you’d ever thought possible, but it all won’t mean much if no one is converting.

For many companies, conversions mean making a purchase, but the term can go far beyond just monetary value. The term “converting” to you may mean completing a form, becoming a lead, calling your team, and more.

Whatever your end conversion goal may be, it’s crucial you get there if you want to continue to grow and evolve.

1. Work on Those CTAs

A call-to-action is what drives people down your sales funnel. Make sure you take them seriously.

There are hundreds of different ways that a company can create a call to action. Consider some of these tips as you create your own call to action on your website:

Corporate work and career. Focused secretary does her job using a laptop in cosy office room.
  1. Size: You want your call to action button to be easy to see, but not overwhelming. Websites with large call-to-action messages and links can seem like spam to many site visitors, but small calls to action can get lost (and potentially confuse a reader looking to follow through).
  2. Frequency: It’s important to have your call-to-action buttons and messages dispersed throughout the page. Many first-timers only include one call to action section, but it’s best to give site visitors ample opportunity to follow through on your website. Do not be overbearing, but have at least three different ways someone can make a purchase or become active in your company.
  3. Location: Make sure you put at least one call to action above the fold. This will ensure that people see the next steps they can take (especially if they don’t read the content).
  4. Images: Images always make content more exciting. This is where a reader’s eyes are typically drawn, so you absolutely want to incorporate an image into your call to action. The image can be small and next to the text or be part of the text, just make sure it isn’t too overbearing and visitors can still read the page content.
  5. Color: The most important thing to remember about color is that the text can still be read. Make sure the background is in direct contrast with the text of the call to action button. Also, make sure that this button is a different color than the rest of your website (while still matching). This will help draw attention to your call to action.
  6. Linking: You ideally want people to click on your call to action button, but there will always be people who click on an image or your logo. Make sure that these aspects of your website also send site visitors to your call to action page.
  7. Voice: Try to avoid passive voice. Tell your site visitors what you want them to do in a clear and straightforward manner. If you have a deal that won’t be around forever, let your site visitors know. Give as much information as possible in as few words as possible and you’re sure to get more clicks.
  8. Mobile Considerations: You should always consider that your website or email marketing message might be viewed through a mobile phone. Make sure that your call to action button is large enough for those clicking with their fingers, and make sure that your images can be loaded quickly and clearly on a mobile phone. There are quite a few CTA plugins to make this step easier for you.
  9.  Secondary Call to Action Buttons: Many site visitors are not ready to buy right away, so it’s a good idea to have another option for these people. If there is a change that someone would need more information, have a “more information” type button and put your primary call to action button on that page.
  10. Use your CTAs across all your channels. Consistency is key when it comes to conversions. People see the same colors and wording in two or three places, and they feel much more confident taking an action. Use your CTAs as end screens on Youtube, on your social media, and, of course, in your reps’ email signatures when they reach out to your prospects. Have your salesperson create an email signature including your main CTA and branding, and you will notice your company’s emails convert much better.

You can also use AI-powered tools to come up with some ideas for creative CTAs if you feel stuck:

2. Shorten Your Sales Funnels

Do you know why you lose most of your site visitors or prospects?

Your conversion funnel is too long.

Email back-and-forth, waiting time spent waiting for a reply, manual invoicing, conflicting schedules – all of that can get lots of people to give up on your brand.

The solution: Shorten your sales funnel.

Automate what you can automate and let your site visitors convert instantly.

Here are a few ways to do that:

  • Scale your phone support using technology like Interactive Voice Response (IVR) which would interact with your prospects, collect information about customer inquiries, and even help them make a purchase right away
  • Use instant appointment scheduling option: Let your site visitors set up a meeting with you right away by clicking a link and choosing a day and time that works for them. There is online booking technology you can use for it, and it will even manage payments and reminders for you to immediately convert your site visitors into clients.
  • Automate your invoicing process allowing your site visitors to pay instantly without waiting for your team to get back to them with an invoice. Depending on the nature of your business, tools like Quickbooks or PayKickstart can help you do that.
Female businessperson at work. Modern and comfortable place of work. Happy businesswoman with blond hairs sits at table using a smartphone and looking at camera.

Something that can be considered an umbrella for many of the things we have already discussed is that your checkout process should be optimized. This extends beyond length and speed –  it should appear secure, be intuitive, easy to use, and require as little information on their end as possible while also giving you the data you need for future marketing.

Optimize checkout in every way possible! Make it easy for people to make a purchase with you.

2. Use Youtube Remarketing

While there are several powerful remarketing channels available to businesses these days, Youtube is often overlooked. And that is unfortunate. YouTube is the world’s second-largest search engine with billions of active users each month. Perfecting your marketing strategy for such a large platform can have enormous benefits for companies, and what many are realizing is that the remarketing aspect of YouTube has huge potential.

Youtube presence is a great way to generate more quality leads to help you drive your business growth forward.

Focus on background. Photography of a stand there are colourful pencils and pens on a table in modern office. Female office worker doing her job on a laptop.

The reason YouTube is so great for remarketing is not only the fact that they have a large audience, but the platform (or search engine) itself allows you to create remarketing lists of target audiences based on the type of content a viewer generally watches – even if that content isn’t yours. This offers you several different benefits, many of which are either weaker or simply don’t exist when thinking about remarketing on Google:

  • Better ROI. Remarketing almost always has better results than simply putting out an advertisement to hook new consumers. You can also optimize for cost-per-view as opposed to using impressions or the number of times your video displays in order to yield a higher ROI.
  • Longer ads. Unlike social media where you only have a few sentences to get someone’s attention or an ad where you have a character limit, Youtube gives you 30 seconds to make your case in a video as opposed to a static ad and image.
  • Better engagement. The average Internet user spends more time on a website with video. With more and more people interested in watching videos over reading articles, there is a good chance you’ll reach an entirely new and relevant group of people (in addition to the large number of visitors discussed earlier).
  • Location targeting. YouTube is very helpful when it comes to location targeting, much like other remarketing campaigns you may run on other platforms.
  • Brand Awareness. In other words, traditional remarketing benefits. This includes staying on a viewer’s radar and capturing their attention frequently. It helps build brand awareness and gives targeted users more repeated options to engage with your brand, YouTube or otherwise.

So what does this have to do with leads? For starters, all of the points mentioned above will help bring people back to your page and hopefully help people engage with your page. Because of the nature of YouTube and the enhanced features of AdWords remarketing, you can remarket to anyone who shares your video.

Don’t Forget Your Existing Customers!

Obtaining new customers tends to remain a top priority for many e-commerce companies. While this is important, it is really critical that you don’t forget about your current and returning customers. These consumers are much more likely to make another purchase from your site than a new consumer is likely to make a first transaction.

Offer incentives to returning customers at the time of check-out or send emails with rewards after purchase. Always remember the importance of returning customers.

AI and the Future of SEO

Artificial intelligence is taking the SEO industry by storm.

With the emergence of smart chatbots that can perform all kinds of tasks – seemingly – as well as humans can, and the integration of AI-powered features into the two prominent search engines, Bing and Google, there are a lot of questions on how this may change SEO and whether it is going to survive.

The most popular chatbot, ChatGPT, has no doubts as to whether SEO is going to be just fine:

With AI technology will SEO die?

And no, Artificial Intelligence doesn’t think it will ever replace web search if that’s your concern:

People will need search engines to access more diverse and advanced information and to find content that fits their personal tastes.

With that being said, SEO is going to change dramatically under the impact of quickly developing AI technologies.

And here’s what may happen:

Search Engines into Conversational Answer Engines

Google has been pioneering the idea of an “answer engine” for many years now. Instead of generating search results in response to a user’s query, Google has been providing quick answers and follow-up questions, suggesting related news and videos and guessing the context behind each query.

With the emergence of AI technology, this trend has become even more obvious. Bing has become the trend setter at integrating AI into online search, for a change. They were the first to introduce AI-powered conversational features into their search engines. The AI bot called Bart answers search queries in real time and even suggests follow-up questions to continue the conversation:

The bot interacts with searchers conversationally just like a human does but it does provide clickable links to allow them to access the articles it used to give the answers.

Google announced its AI features a few days later: Their bot is still in private beta, so we could only see the GIF giving a glimpse into how it would work.

Google’s bot responds to a user’s query in real time typing answers right in front of their eyes. Unlike Bing, it doesn’t look like the chatbot is willing to reveal its sources which seemed concerning for two reasons:

  • Just like Bard, Google’s bot is scanning billions of documents across the internet to come up with answers. Not giving access to the sources seems very unfair to the publishers who created those documents.
  • The fact that the bots are using third-party information means there can be human errors in the answers. Without an ability to access two or more sources, it will be hard to verify the information provided by the AI technology.

Google is claiming that they are still working and welcoming feedback, so there’s hope they will rethink the way it is set-up now and get more transparent with their sources.

In both ways, so far AI-powered search engines look an extension to what they were previously: Answer engines that strive to instantly help their users with additional information. If they cite the sources, optimizing for these kinds of real-time answers won’t be much different from optimizing for featured snippets. All you need is to do your best to answer your target audience’s questions, and the chatbots will likely cite you.

The only difference is that it is not quite clear how to measure your progress: We don’t know yet how those clicks from the bots’ answers will be recorded and tracked. But I suppose, search engines will be transparent in that respect allowing you to see which of your pages got cited by search chatbots most. Google already offers this kind of reports for its highly personalized Discover section.

AI and Its Impact on SEO Profession

With ChatGPT being able to perform all kinds of traditional SEO tasks – including content creation and optimization, writing emails, and even creating Schema code – there have been a lot of concerns as to how many SEO professions are going to become obsolete.

Well, at its current phase ChatGPT is not a threat to any profession. It can eliminate some outsourcing needs enabling SEO teams to handle more tasks at home, including basic coding needs.

But with its current possibilities most of those performed tasks will require a lot of human interference. Its written content is basic and detectable, so it cannot be used for content creation but it can turn useful in creating content outlines and briefs. Its code usually requires fine-tuning. Its keyword research is basic.

So far ChatGPT is simply a little helper that can make your work faster rather than replacing you in any task.

It may change in the future as it becomes more advanced but an SEO profession is so much more than simply performing tasks. It involves planning and strategizing. It is all about relationship building and collaboration. But more importantly, it requires understanding of unpredictable human reactions which AI will hardly ever learn to relate to.

The Key Lies in Mutual Benefits

So in the above section, we’ve seen how AI can actually make an SEO’s job easier. It is clear that the technology can benefit us all – users and web publishers. The key is to start using AI technology to understand how we can safely co-exist without threatening each other.

If you have been in the SEO industry for at least a couple of years, you’ve surely seen how SEO always thrives with the emergence of new technology. Tools that make SEOs more informed and productive have never killed SEO. Instead they made the industry more advanced and integrated.

When SEO was born, we were merely focusing on identifying keywords and integrating them into the web document for Google to match them with the exact query. We’ve come a long way since them. We’ve gone through years of Google learning to use semantic analysis to understand intent behind search queries, penalizing and filtering out low-quality backlinks and giving direct answers to their users in the form of featured snippets and People Also Ask results.

A decade or so ago, SEOs needed considerable development skills to put together sites and publish digital content but with the emergence of advanced site building platforms, anyone was able to create websites and design landing pages. Web analytics has also become accessible and easy to understand to just about anyone, whether they have any SEO expertise or not.

None of those changes has killed SEO but made it stronger.

AI technology is not brand new to the digital marketing industry. It has been integrated into customer support tools (IVR and chatbots) for years. There are AI-driven accessibility tools, AI-powered on-page engagement tools, AI-driven social media listening tools, etc. We have all learned to use multiple AI tools to improve digital marketing strategies.

New technology has been helping SEOs reverse engineer Google’s algorithm, analyze competitors, improve your keyword strategy and build web pages for users to easily get exactly what they came for. SEO is now integrated into product development, user experience testing and niche relationship building. It has become more than creating content for search engines and letting search crawlers access it easily. SEO is getting harder and harder to kill because it got smarter and smarter.

If AI technology seems to threaten you, get to know it better. Learn to benefit from it, and you will see that it can benefit everyone, including your users.
